Plantar Fasciitis

What is plantar fasciitis, and how is it caused?

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia. This is a thick band of tissue that connects your heel to your toes and runs along the bottom of your foot. When this becomes inflamed it causes pain at the heel of your foot, and sometime along the sole of your foot. The pain is usually at its worst in the morning. There are many things that can cause plantar fasciitis, these include:

  • Having flat feet, or having flat or incorrectly fitted shoes
  • Being pregnant or overweight, placing more pressure on the feet
  • Having an abnormal gait
  • Having a job that requires you to constantly be on your feet
  • Activities that cause lots of stress on the feet e.g. long distance running

How can chiropractic help with plantar fasciitis?

You may or may not be aware that chiropractors can adjust parts of the body other than the spine, and this includes the joints in your feet. If the joints in your feet are not moving correctly this can place excess pressure on the tissues in your feet, including the plantar fascia. Chiropractors are able to adjust joints in the feet to ensure that the joints are all moving correctly, and not placing any unnecessary pressure on the tissues within the foot.

Improper gait is something that can contribute to plantar fasciitis as it places abnormal stress on the feet. Chiropractors are able to adjust feet, ankles, knees, hips, and the spine, as well as giving advice, in order to improve gait and minimise the excess stress being placed on the feet that can contribute to plantar fasciitis.

What are some other things I can do to help with plantar fasciitis?

  1. Weight control – if you are overweight you are constantly placing extra stress on your feet. By maintaining a healthy body weight you will be placing less stress through your feet which will place less pressure on the plantar fascia, and therefore give it a better chance of healing.
  2. Shoes – it is very important to have a good quality shoes that fit well. Ill fitting shoes place more stress on your feet and your plantar fascia. If you are unsure of your shoe size you can get a shoe fitting done. Also avoid flat shoes such as jandals, as these also place more stress on your feet.
  3. Rest – if you have plantar fasciitis it is important to spend time off your feet and let them rest in order for the inflammation to go down and for your plantar fascia to be able to heal. However it is important not to stop exercise and movement entirely, as this can cause the plantar fascia to become stiff, which can increase pain.
  4. Ice – placing ice on your foot for 10-15 minutes at a time throughout the day will help to bring inflammation down and reduce pain levels.
  5. Massage – massage can help to relieve the pain in your foot. An easy way to do this is to roll the sole of your foot over a foam roller. You can also freeze a bottle of water and use this to massage and ice your foot at the same time.
  6. Stretching – gently stretching the plantar fascia can help to relieve pain. An easy stretch to do is to rest your ankle (on the same side as your sore foot) on your opposite knee. Then gently pull the toes on this foot towards your shin and hold for 10 seconds at a time.

Revolution Chiropractics’ Revolutionary Way

What do we do at Revolution Chiropractic and how is this revolutionary?

The primary objective for us at Revolution Chiropractic unlike any other Chiropractic Office is to make sure we reset your structure to normal. Most chiropractor talk about restoring your posture but this is not the same as your structure. Some chiropractors will even go as far as saying that they are restoring your structure but they are not doing anything other than standard adjustments of the spine.
The structure does not change with standard adjustments alone. I’ve spent 5 years analysing and researching this topic and although adjustments are literally the most amazing this you could do for your body… and they are a great tool for resetting your nervous system and improving mobility and flexibility, reducing pain and discomfort… they won’t be as effective as they can really have the potential to be if you don’t follow up the adjustments with some specific rehabilitation. Also… structural corrective chiropractors will utilise different adjustments techniques proven to improve your structure. The standard way most chiropractors adjust you just won’t do it.

Firstly let’s clear up some misinformation out there about posture and the correction of it…

Your posture depends on your structure. So any postural things you improve will not be long term if your structure is out. There are many practitioners that are posture focused but from my knowledge and understanding this is kind of a bit of waste of time if your structure is out. & most of these practitioners won’t look at your structure at all, they don’t know how to access your structure and how to correct it. First of all, a structural corrective chiropractic adjustment is needed before you do any rehab otherwise your structure won’t change. How can it when it’s been fixated in one position for years potentially? There is so much adhesion and scar tissue around some of these structural shifts that an superficial exercise won’t have that much effect on.

You need a structural corrective chiropractic adjustment to start the engine. These adjustments literally fire up your joint and muscle receptors and there’s new information being fed from your body to your brain via you nervous system. Then your brain can alter its control of your body / make it more appropriate and better.⁣

So now…what do I mean by structure and what’s a normal structure?

structural chiropractic
Well you see, your spine has 2 primary curves. These are called the ‘Cervical Lordosis’ and the ‘Lumbar Lordosis’ which basically means the ‘neck curve’ and the ‘lower back curve’ (most commonly known as the lower back arch).
A normal structure has these two curves in their correct position and form like the left side of the picture shown.
The right side of the picture as you can see has a different structure. The neck curve looks straightened and it’s forward, the lower back curve also looks straightened and guess what happens to the mid back? It accentuates and you get that ‘bad posture’  or ‘granny hump’ look. Why does this matter and how can it impact your musculoskeletal health and your overall health?

Here is how it all works

When a bone in misaligned, it doesn’t have its proper motion and movement that it normally should have. Why is this important and what can a structural chiropractor do to improve your health? ⁣Well without a properly functioning joint, the muscles that surround that joint become useless, they also lose nerve connection to your brain. How? Let’s look at a couple of analogies to understand this. ⁣
1. What happens to the muscles when you break a bone and have to put a cast around it to wait for the bone to repair? The muscles waste away right? They get smaller and weaker. Why? Because without joint activity and movement, muscles don’t need to do anything.⁣
So this is how muscles around a misaligned joint that doesn’t move properly lose their strength. They become weak and are therefore less supportive for your structure, creating abnormalities in your structure⁣
and posture and without the muscle support you will damage joints, bursas, capsules, discs, nerves and all that’s within them. ⁣
2. Muscles and joint have mechanoreceptors that send information up to your brain (via your nerves) so that your brain can alter its control of the body / make it more appropriate and better.⁣
Without joint motion and muscle activity, these receptors also don’t work therefore the brain doesn’t have accurate information from the body therefore it does not control the body the best possible way. It’s use it or lose it for the brain, once it’s had a while of lack of proper connection to a part of your body, it will become more and more confused and creates more compensations in your body which causes tightness and stiffness in your muscles which can cause pain. Your pain may also be coming from repetitive trauma on your joints and all the structures within the joint because of lack of muscular support. ⁣

So at Revolution Chiropractic we take it up a notch

We probably.. in fact i’m willing to bet that we have the most thorough process of consultation and examination of any chiropractor in new zealand at least. Most chiropractors have pre-printed reports they run through with you to tell you what’s going on in your spine. They have pre-printed recommendations on your water intake, caffeine intake, exercises and so on. They do their consult, examination and adjustments in no more than 20 minutes and they’ll have your report done in 5-10 minutes. Thereafter your appointments will be anywhere between 3-5 minutes.
Okay… believe me, I KNOW how amazing chiropractic adjustments can be…so putting in the bare minimum effort gets your a long way and you look like you’re a god sent… what i’m saying here is not to downplay chiropractic at all… I mean I am in LOVE with chiropractic and what it does for us… but at Revolution Chiropractic we like to push chiropractic to highs that most chiropractors don’t bother doing so… it costs them time and money to do so… and quite frankly it’s not as profitable.

So what do we do that’s so different?

Firstly, we like to see the individual for a free consultation first and then decide if we can help and inform them how exactly we can help, including costs. This free consultation is 30 minutes long with one of our strutural chiropractors.
Only if you are a good candidate for structural corrective care and you want to fix your issues at their core, we go through to a complete structural examination which includes structural spinal analysis using specialised equipment and x-rays.
After analysing your postural photographs taken in our office and your X-rays in detail plus all the other information acquired during the examination we conduct a thorough report of diagnosis, rehabilitation and recommendations on various parts of your lifestyle such as sitting, standing, sleeping, nutrition, supplements, etc.
This process takes up anywhere between 30-90 minutes and your report is detailed to its’ core… it can be anywhere from 10-15 pages long.
We also adjust your spine specific to what’s going on in your structure to correct it as well as restoring your spinal curves to normal again using specialised rehabilitation equipment.⁣

We see all sorts of musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal conditions at Revolution

We see many people with neck or back pain and bulging or herniated discs that have gone through procedures like microdiscectomies previously who are back to square one a year or two down the road. (Micro-discectomy is surgery to remove herniated disc material that is pressing on a nerve root or the spinal cord). Upon a very detailed examination we find the cause of WHY your discs are herniating to start with and treat the actual CAUSE so that this cycle of herniation, microdiscectomy, herniation, bandage treatment stops.⁣
We also see individuals with pain and problems in other areas of their body such as shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle or foot pain, shin splints, pregnancy related issues… and there are always those people with things such as post concussion syndrome, dizziness and vertigo, TMJ dysfunctions (jaw pain), sinusitis and recurrent sinus infections, brain fog which we also help. ⁣Of course it is pertinent you see your structural chiropractor for any head or neck related injuries such as concussions and whiplash.

Chiropractic & Breastfeeding

For many mum and babies breastfeeding can be a real challenge.

We know that about 80-90% of mum try to breastfeed at birth but by one week of age as few as half of mums are still exclusively breastfeeding. This figure continues to drop with only about 1% of mum exclusively breastfeeding when baby is 6 months old, which is the recommended time we should exclusively breastfeed for.
There are of course many reasons why mums give up on breastfeeding, from sore nipples to inadequate milk supply, or baby having issues with latching to suckling. All too often these problems lead to too much pain, or even breast infection and ultimately and understandably mum giving up on breastfeeding because it just gets too hard.

This is a real shame, because we know that breastfeeding is really important for babies health. We know that babies who are breastfed are less likely to suffer from ear infections and tummy bugs, they’re even less likely to develop asthma and other conditions that can be life threatening.
It just goes without saying that nature knows best and that breastfeeding is the optimal form of nutrition for infants.

So if someone is having issues with breastfeeding, what can they do about it? luckily help is available.

-Lactation consultants and other health professionals can really help mums and babies to overcome the breastfeeding issues.
-One health care profession that many mums turn to for help is their family chiropractor.
But why might a chiropractor help with breastfeeding? Well the answer is really simple. Chiropractors see babies to help improve the way their body and nervous system functions so that they can get the best possible start in life.

Chiropractic & Injury Prevention

Chiropractic care can positively impact many different aspects of health and function.

This study shows that poor control of the core muscles may be the cause of people developing pain and sustaining an injury which can be prevented and improved via chiropractic care.

We also know from previous studies that people who have lower back pain often have delayed activation of their core abdominal muscles when performing various movements. We also know that the brains of these people are much less aware of what’s going on in their lower backs due to misalignments in their spine. This means that many people with lower back pain, their brain is not receiving or processing accurate information from the small muscles around the spine, so their brains have to guess what’s going on and therefore may not be controlling the lower back in an ideal way. which can damage the back further.

This is why chiropractic care is so important. It can restore proper communication between your brain and your body so your brain knows accurately what’s going on and can control your whole body in the best way possible.

Breech Babies and Chiropractic Care

Breech Babies and Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is amazing for expecting mothers for many reasons. A common complication of pregnancy/birth is when the baby ends up in the breech position, and this is actually something that chiropractic care can help with.

What is a breech baby?

Usually, during pregnancy, the baby is in such a position to come out head first through the birth canal. This is the easiest and safest position for the baby to leave the mother. However, in around 3-4% of pregnancies, the baby will be in such a position that its feet are in the direction of the birth canal instead of the head. This is called a ‘breech’ position and can lead to complications during birth, both for the mother and the baby. Breech babies usually require some type of intervention, such as Caesarean section.

A normal vs. breech position of a baby

The position of a baby is not sure until it has hit the 35-36 week mark. This is because before then a baby will often naturally turn around in preparation for birth. After this time, however, the baby has usually grown too much and does not have enough room to turn around comfortably. Some breech babies will still naturally turn around after this point, but some may stay in this position, requiring some type of intervention.

There are no definite known reasons that breech babies occur, but some possibilities are:

  • A mother that has had multiple pregnancies
  • A pregnancy with multiple babies
  • An incorrect amniotic fluid levels
  • An abnormal uterus shape
  • Uterine fibroids.

How can chiropractic care help with breech babies?

So you may be wondering where chiropractic care comes into this? Chiropractors don’t deal directly with the baby while it is still inside the mother. However, by adjusting the mother, this can often lead to the baby turning naturally, without the need for medical interventions.

The chiropractor will check and adjust the spine of the expectant mother, including the pelvis. Chiropractors are trained in checking and adjusting the bodies of pregnant women, modifying the adjustments when necessary, and making sure everything is safe and comfortable. There are even pregnancy-specific techniques, such as the Webster technique, that the chiropractor can use to adjust the mother. Webster technique addresses the sacrum and the round ligament, which has a direct attachment to the uterus. Along with adjusting the rest of the pelvis, this technique relieves pressure from the uterus, creates a more stable pelvis, and therefore creates more room for the baby to move around in. In many cases, this relief of tension from the uterus and increased space has allowed enough room for the baby to turn on their own, without the need for medical intervention. This helps ensure a safer and more comfortable birth for both mother and baby. It can also give the mother more peace of mind leading up to the birth, as it can be quite stressful for the mother knowing that her baby is breech, and create a lot of worry and uncertainty around what is going to happen during the birth.

Conclusion

While chiropractic care can be of great benefit to the mother and baby in the later stages of pregnancy when it is in the breech position, it is even more beneficial from the beginning of pregnancy. Being under chiropractic care from the start of pregnancy ensures that the pelvis remains stable and tension on the uterus remains minimal, which can prevent the baby from becoming breech in the first place, ensuring a more comfortable pregnancy and reduced stress for the mother. This is just one of the many benefits of chiropractic care for pregnancy and the birthing process.

The Birthing Process and Chiropractic

The birthing process is a very complicated process that puts a lot of stress on both the mother and the baby. Because birth is so complicated, numerous things can go wrong. However, chiropractic is an amazing tool for any expecting mother, that has benefits for both mum and baby. Before, during, and after labor, and helps provide a safe and comfortable birthing process. Here is how chiropractic can help at all stages of the birthing process.

Before Labour

It is important to get checked by a chiropractor from the beginning of your pregnancy, as being under chiropractic care allows your pelvis to comfortably expand and change in order to give space for your baby to grow. If the baby has room to grow comfortably this will allow them to be in the best position possible for when it is time to give birth1. However, some babies can sometimes end up in the wrong position for birthing – known as breech position.

Breech Babies

Most babies in the breech position need some type of intervention, such a a Caesarean section, to help them be born safely. There is a pregnancy specific chiropractic technique, called Webster technique, that focuses on balancing the pelvis, including pelvic muscles and ligaments. This can help take pressure off the uterus, and can result in the baby repositioning itself into the ideal position for birth taking away the need for extra interventions2.

During Labour

Because chiropractic balances the joints of the pelvis and gets the nervous system working at its best, this usually results in faster and easier births. This is due to a few reasons. As mentioned above, chiropractic care allows the baby to be in the best possible position for birth, it also makes sure that the mother’s pelvis is ready for giving birth. Because chiropractic clears interference from the nervous system, this allows the brain to be able to better control the uterus and cervix, allowing the birth process to happen faster and more smoothly3.

Chiropractic care and reducing labour time

Estimates show that women under chiropractic care, have on average a 25-30% shorter labour time than those who are not under chiropractic care4. When the labour can run without complications due to the baby’s position, this decreases the need for extra medical interventions, allowing for a safer and more comfortable birth for both mother and baby. Chiropractic also has an impact on pelvis floor muscles, giving them a better ability to relax when the pelvic floor muscles are at rest. These muscles are very important in giving birth. When these muscles are working properly, it increases the chances of being able to have a safe, natural vaginal birth5.

After Labour

Chiropractic is important for the mother both before and after giving birth. Because it equips her body to be able to bounce back to normal as quickly as possible. If there was for some reason some type of trauma during the birth, chiropractic increases the body’s healing capabilities, allowing the mother to heal as fast and effectively as possible4.

Even a safe, fast birth can still cause a lot of trauma and stress on the newborn baby’s system. It’s important to check after birth so chiropractors can find any areas of stress caused by the birthing process. Then remove them using extremely gentle and safe techniques, specific for very young children. From the moment babies are born, their brain and body start growing and adapting. Chiropractic clears their nervous system from any stress that may have been caused by the birthing process, which allows them to grow and function at their very best.

Pregnancy and Chiropractic

What changes does the body go through during pregnancy and how can chiropractic care help?

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing as you are growing a brand new human inside of you. However, while this is happening, it causes a lot of changes in your own body too. Different changes happen throughout different parts of your pregnancy and will differ from mother to mother, as no two pregnancies are the same. While these will be different for everyone, these are some of the changes you can expect as you progress through your pregnancy.

First trimester in pregnancy

It is very common during early pregnancy to feel very fatigued and low on energy, as your body adapts to all the changes it is going through. It’s also common to experience some nausea and vomiting due to the pregnancy hormones, these may also cause some emotional symptoms. You will likely need to urinate more as the baby starts growing and starts pressing on your bladder. Heartburn, constipation, and lightheadedness are all common in the first trimester. You will also start noticing skin, breast, vaginal, and stomach changes.

Second trimester in pregnancy

Most women have a lot more energy in the second trimester than they do in the first trimester, and are less likely to experience nausea and vomiting. Your stomach will continue to grow as your baby does. Your skin will continue to change. You may start experiencing pain in your legs due to the growing baby placing pressure on nerves and blood vessels. You may also start to experience pain in your back, hips, and pelvis. This can be because of the pressure your growing belly is putting on these areas, and because your ligaments start to relax to allow your pelvis to move in order to be ready for childbirth. You may also experience some stomach pain as the muscles and ligaments supporting your uterus stretch.

Third trimester in pregnancy

It’s normal to start to feel fatigued again. You will feel your baby start to move more and are likely experience some swelling throughout your body due to slower blood circulation and fluid retention. Some women experience numbness and tingling in your arm and legs due to increased pressure on the nerves throughout your body. You will likely still experience the same types of pain as you did in the second trimester.

How can chiropractic assist me through my pregnancy journey?

As you can see above your body goes through numerous changes as you go through your pregnancy journey. It is important to give your body as much support as you can throughout this time, and chiropractic is a safe and natural way to assist your body to be as strong and healthy as it can be while you are growing a baby inside of you. There are many different chiropractic techniques that can be utilised for the pregnant body, and all chiropractors are trained in how to provide care specific for a pregnant person. Here are just some of the ways that chiropractic can assist you on your pregnancy journey.

1. Lower back pain

As your stomach grows this changes your posture, your weight bearing, and the way you walk. All of this puts stress on the joints of the lower spine, which can sometimes result in lower back pain. Chiropractic is able to get those joint moving and functioning properly, which decreases the stress on them, and regularly results in less pain.

2. Balance pelvis

The ligaments of the pelvis relax and the pelvis expands as the baby grows. This however can sometimes cause weakness and pain in the hips and pelvis. Chiropractic makes sure all of the joints are moving and functioning well, so as they move and change they are still strong, stable, and balanced. This can decrease pain levels and allows the pelvis to safely expand to allow room for the baby to grow and move into the best position possible.

3. Abdominal pain

Abdominal pain during pregnancy is usually caused by stretching of the ligaments that are attached to the uterus, as the uterus expands to accommodate the growing baby. This tends to cause cramping and discomfort. There are specific chiropractic techniques, such as Webster technique, that help to relax these ligaments to ease pain and cramping as they stretch.

4. Decrease pain killers

Anything that the mother ingests, the baby will also take into their system. Chiropractic has been shown to remove up to 85% of pain symptoms that pregnant people experience, thus reducing the need for painkillers, and decreasing the baby’s exposure to these medications while in the womb.

5. Increase nervous system function

Chiropractic is all about removing interference from the nervous system so that it can work at its best. As the nervous system is the master controller of all body systems, including the reproductive system, chiropractic care allows the body to function at its best while it is going through all the changes of pregnancy. This is why people notice other benefits other than those mentioned above, such as increased energy and less heartburn, and why chiropractic is extremely beneficial in all stages of pregnancy.

All About Babies

  1. Babies head shape:

It’s a myth that an odd shaped babies head is of no concern and will right itself. However anomalies of shape can be the first indication that your child is susceptible to developmental delay. If the babies head looks uneven or you notice flat areas, this can indicate restrictions between the skull and the soft layers that cover the brain and spinal cord.SELF CHECK: Babies and Children that have spinal distress will result in a head tilt to one side so one ear sits higher than the other (refer to next picture). At times the head can be rotated or turned to one side which is usually the side a baby prefers to rotate their head when lying down or sleeping.

If your child’s head is odd shaped, have their skeletal system checked by a Chiropractor as early as possible. The focus is not aesthetics but to help increase the neurological function of your child.

  2.  Good Posture is essential in babies too!

Our awesome grandmothers were right ✅
    Our children need reminding to
    -Stand up straight
    -Sit up straight
-Look up from phonesWith the evolving lifestyle, most children are neglecting to strengthen certain muscles as the grow and develop. They need to particularly concentrate on strengthening the mid back SIMPLE TIPS

-Rub the back of your child’s neck along their hairline
    -Tickle their back regularly
-Write letters and numbers on their back in the bath
-Play on all fours (horse rides and piggy backs)

  3. Importance of tummy time

From a neurological perspective, it is important babies have short periods of TUMMY TIME which is time spent lying on their tummies and holding their own heads upThis simple act builds up the neck muscles and activates the brainstem pathways which are critical for healthy brain development.

For the first few weeks, pay attention – the baby will get tired easily in this position.

SELF CHECK: If your baby does not appear to like lying on their stomach this could be an indication of spine or nerve irritation, so have them checked by a Chiropractor.

  4. Baby Massage

Massage provides wonderful stimulus and feedback to the brain. When performing all over body massage make sure your child is warm (after a bath is perfect) and use gentle, broad contact If your child is irritable, particularly if they are over stimulated when it is time for sleep. Firmer pressure holds are fabulous to calm the nervous system down. Use your hand to apply medium – firm pressure for the count of three and move your hand slightly and apply pressure again.Baby massage helps your baby gently transition into their new world It has been shown to support baby’s sleeping, settling and soothing abilities, growth and development and enhance their immune system. Not only is it a tool that helps maintain your babies health and well being. But a wonderful experience to share with your baby. You and your baby will be communicating with gentle touch, rhythm, eye contact, voice and body language. It gives you one on one time where you will learn to calm yourself and your baby, confidently communicate with your baby and tune into your own natural instinct.

  5. Baby sleep

It can be hard to realize how much sleep a new born baby or a child requires to be healthy. If a baby or child does not wake up easily and with energy each morning, this could indicate they are not getting enough quality sleep. Parents can often miss child ‘tired cues’ causing difficulty trying to put them to bed when their brain is firing up in fourth gear A set routine for dinner and bedtime makes life easier. Start activities well before your child is likely to be tired and ready for sleep  It’s likely that your baby won’t stay asleep for more than one hour to three hours  at a time in her first few months.Total sleep required for your baby in a 24 hour period is as follows
    ▪️New born 17 hours
    ?1 – 3 Months 16 hours
    ▪️ 6 months 14 hours
    ?9 – 12 months 13 hours

  6. Sensory stimulation for your baby

Whenever possible introduce new sensory experiences to your child. Let them play with a range of objects which have different textures, temperatures or sounds. Use the everyday world to excite their senses; have them run barefoot on the grass, sand, dip their fingers and toes in water or play with rustling leaves. Just because babies and young children cannot articulate themselves, they can still understand your intent and feelings. You can extend their lingual and comprehension skills using language. For example: Rather than pointing to a dog  and saying ‘puppy dog’ you could say ‘there is a puppy dog, he barks and says woof woof’

As your child grows, ask them questions that test their short and long term memory.

  7. Milestones

Help your children through their milestones! The movement , behaviour and language  your baby should ideally be demonstrating at different ages are called age-appropriate developmental milestones.  By knowing these milestones, you can help ensure that your child’s brain is working as it should and when to take action if your child needs additional help ‍‍‍We need to have the courage to “tickle out” the weak links as early as possible to prevent them becoming major hurdles in life. Keep an eye  on your baby’s vision, hearing and motor skills as they move from newborn to toddler, our children all have areas where they excel, and where they lag and as parents and carers it is our job to compare children to themselves, and help them along the way.

  8. Early signs

As parents, we must observe our children to see that they are integrating their world around them. There are sure signs  to look out for that may indicate that your child is not thriving  as well as they can. Early signs of a body out of balance include; head tilted to one side, ears and eyes  uneven, uneven head shape, flat or pointed ears, body looks uneven; for example shoulders are not level, baby lies on an angle, obvious muscle tension where baby may not look relaxed  or a lack of muscle tone, where baby looks floppy. If you notice any of these signs in your baby, consider having them checked by a chiropractor.

  9. Importance of playtime for babies

Babies spend nearly half of their waking time doing things like waving their arms kicking and bouncing. While it may appear all this activity is pointless, it is actually benefiting the child’s development in some way. With this is mind, allow children plenty of time to play independently – this is vital for motor and cognitive development Whenever possible allow your child to move about, explore their world  and entertain themselves with a variety of objects such as cups, spoons, balls, string, a plastic mirror etc. Each time a child experiences a new object or texture new neurological synapses connect. Eventually building circuits that are strong enough to trigger the next developmental milestone. As your child grows older, teach them more stimulating activities such as blowing bubbles or balloons, building with blocks, doing puzzles and counting beads.

  10. Importance of WATER

Help your children develop the habit of drinking lots of water!  Water should constitute one of the single most essential elements in our child’s diet . Just as a car  cannot run without gas and oil, water is important to the mechanics of the human body all cell and organ function depends upon water!A  2% drop in our body’s water supply can trigger dehydration: fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on smaller print, such as a computer screen. Mild dehydration is also one of the most common causes of daytime fatigue. Many children are frequently dehydrated, suffering from concentration issues, constipation and digestive problems.
